About the Band…
Tom Williams and Steve Springer began playing together at parties and coffee houses in the mid 90’s. Earl Tyrus, Jr. and his bass, Maria, joined the guys in late 2000 and the Tom Williams Trio was formed. Terri Inman joined in on harmony vocals in ’06, and Eddie Puente, Jr. filled out the group playing drums the following year.
Steve has played guitar with various folks and groups since he was in high school. A good ballad writer, Steve’s musical interests and styles range from country and blues to new age music. In fact he has recorded and published several original new age songs on the Internet.
Beginning with the violin, Earl has been playing music for over 40 years. Earl played bass in various groups throughout his Air Force career. With “The Pacers” he played and appeared in several movies while stationed in Greece, and also won two ‘best group’ awards in the Air Force. With the “Lively Set” in San Antonio, Earl made two records that got good local airplay in the early ‘70s. Earl is comfortable proficient playing almost any style of music.
Tom and Terri have taught special ed together for over 10 years. They first sang together when they would have “music time” with their students, but the collaboration really took off when Terri started ‘crashing’ gigs to sing one or two songs (at first) and, over the next few months, eased herself into her current role as Tom ’s frequent singing partner.Eddie started learning to play the drums at age 3. When he was in high school he would occasionally sit in when the Trio would practice on Tom’s deck. Eventually, Eddie started playing with the Groove on a regular basis. In addition to his skill on the skins, he does a nice job on harmony vocals, and has been an influence on their song selections
